The Learning Centre strives to make a difference to the lives of people in Assynt by providing opportunities which enhance education, increase employability and encourage enterprise.
We work with adults of all ages and abilities as well as local community groups and businesses in developing peoples’ skills. A lot of our programmes are free, sometimes there is a small fee and where courses lead to an accredited qualification then an Individual Learning Account (ILA) may be available.
Join in our Autumn and Winter programme of Adult Education Classes. There’s a wide range to choose from across topics as varied as Arts and Crafts, Languages, Technology, Traditional Skills, the Landscape and Environment. The classes keep changing too to keep up with demand. We have a bank of talented, local Tutors to run the classes, which adds a special dimension to the learning experience.
And if you are thinking of a college or university course then come and talk to us too as we have links with North Highland College, West Highland College and the University of the Highlands and Islands.
For Community Groups and Businesses we can organise Regulatory training such as First Aid and Food Hygiene.
And together with North Highland College we can help you to increase your staff’s skills through accredited training such as Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) and Modern Apprenticeships. To arrange a meeting about this just call the Learning Centre on 01571 844123
Finding funding to enable the Learning Centre to offer a range of services is always ongoing and we are keen to generate employment opportunities where we can. But there’s a place for volunteers too, especially helping with adult literacy work and language skills. Let us know about your skills if you want to get involved.
